Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Patrick Mendoza and I am entering my fourth year as a Mathematics major with a minor in Digital Arts at UCI.                 If you are wondering about the web page layout I chose the coat of arms because this site was basically to show people(family, friends, employers) about myself, and I could think of no better way to meld details about myself with traditional symbolisms than a coat of arms. The crest in the upper right corner of my coat of arms is of the MacLachlan clan, I thought that it would be nice to include a symbol of my Irish/Scottish roots(most people understand that I'm also Mexican from my last name). I was born here in California and attended Catholic school until my high school years. In high school I was an avid reader and hoped to one day become a great writer but have since decided that is not the path my life will take me, but into computers and the design of web sites                 This past year and a half though I'd have to say that my major hobby would be the internet. A friend of mine introduced me to it last year and I haven't been able to stop since then. Last summer I read a book on JavaScript and by the end of this summer I hope to learn some of CGI, C++, FLASH, and 3D Studio Max. Although it is a tall order, I think I will accomplish it.         In my spare time I love to read horror, science fiction, and fantasy books. Some of my favorite authors are: Stephen King, Clive Barker, and Robert Jordon(if you haven't read The Wheel of Time series I definitely recommend it).         I also have a minor interest in art. As you can tell from my page I have a particular interest in MC Escher. Other artists I appreciate are: Vincent Van Gogh, John Waterhouse, and Caspar Friedrich.         I have always had a love for Jazz. I played the trumpet in high school but mostly all I do now is go swing dancing every once in a while. Some day soon I hope to travel to New Orleans and see one of the places where it all originated.                 I was admitted to UCI as a Chemical Engineering major. After the first year I became convinced that I couldn't hack all the physics and programming, so I switched my major to Mathematics, which I had always seemed to have an affinity for. Lo and behold web page design has since become a passion of mine, and I am back into computer programming, this time I love it.                 This year I hope to obtain an internship in web page design and be on my way in making a career out of it.
